About LCE

Loddon Community Energy is a Community Benefit Society – Bencom and is registered with the Financial Conduct Authority.

It has been set up by a group of local people to help develop renewable energy in the area, and to provide funding to help individuals and organisations improve energy efficiency and reduce fuel poverty.

Meet the Founding Members

We come from Silchester, Bramley, Chineham and Old Basing, and are trying to recruit a few people from the Sherfields.  The name ‘Loddon Community Energy’ is intended to reflect the area that we all live in and the core area that we will be working in – although we might work on projects outside this exact area.

As LCE grow, the initial volunteer team will inevitably have to be augmented with some paid staff.  We will try to recruit locally as much as possible.

About Community Benefit Societies

A Community Benefit Society is a ‘not-for-profit’ society owned by its shareholders.  Individuals or Organisations can buy shares, but shares cannot be traded on stock markets.

Each shareholder has one vote, irrespective of the number of shares held, so that no large shareholder can control the direction of the Society
